This fly-fishing area was created in May 2005 and inaugurated by the triple French Fly-fishing World Champion, Pascal Cognard during the Festiv'Aude Festival. There is also a secure overhang in this area for disabled people who would like to fish.

Trout fishing

The Aude river is classified as a category 1 where there is an abundance of mediterranean brown trout. It is also possible to catch graylings, another species of fish which was introduced into the river at the beginning of the year 2000.

Fishing and disability

Several fishing stations have been created for disabled people. In order to make fly-fishing accessible to all, a special pontoon has been constructed on the river. It is reserved for disabled people and there is also a reserved parking place alongside. A second pontoon can be found in Quillan, in the area of the river known as "Maride" where all fishing techniques can be used..

Fishing guides:

In the heart of the Cathar Country Yannick, a qualified fishing guide and fly-fishing specialist (Member of the French Fly-fishing team), invites you to discover the Aude river and its tributaries. He runs sessions for beginners and those wishing to specialise in or improve specific techniques, such as fly fishing wild trout in local streams. More information...

  • Fishing school and  training courses
To learn how to fish and explore the aquatic environment through guided activities, the Fédération de Pêche runs a fishing school and also educational activities for schools. These workshops introduce children to coarse angling, which is the simplest technique to learn. The aim of these courses is to demonstrate how this sport can be practiced in harmony with the environment. Simple principles are taught, such as avoiding pollution and how to handle the fish carefully (because they are released at the end of each session, after a souvenir photograph has been taken). The fishing school is suitable for children between 9 and 13 years old. No prior experience of fishing is necessary.
